Windiode is a kinetic installation that uses wind as both medium and performer, translating invisible air currents into emergent fields of light. Installed along the shoreline, the work consists of 400 DIY wind-sensing rods, each made from a two-meter carbon fiber pole, LED, mercury tilt switch, and battery. As each rod bends under the force of the wind, its LED flickers briefly, collectively generating a luminous landscape that reveals the fluid dynamics of the atmosphere. The piece acts as both a real-time drawing of the wind and an exploration of how natural energy can be perceived, translated, and shared as a collective visual experience.
